Branding Irons for Plastic
-
Branding plastics is very straightforward, however it requires a very specific low temperature and a longer branding time compared to other materials.
Although it’s possible to get good results using a torch to heat the brand, you would need to test it periodically while heating until you have the correct temperature.
We recommend our temperature controlled electric handle at 30 watts or our full size temperature controlled handle for larger sizes.
It’s important that you have scraps or samples to test it on before branding finished work

So long as the correct temperature has been used for branding, no special care is required for cleaning.
With the correct temperature being used, no plastic material should build up on the brand head.
If you have accidentally melted plastic to the brand head, the best way to clean it is to run it full temperature in a well-ventilated area so the deposit will burn off leaving a loose dust after it cools that can be brushed off with a soft bristle brush.

We recommend a simplified logo or brand design and choosing a smaller size.
Finding a flat area on modern power tools can be difficult and the larger the size, the more difficult it can be.

The best results branding plastic will always be the most shallow impressions done slowly at a low temperature.
The deeper you try to brand, the more noticeable the depth variation will be and the more likely you will be to distort the image transfer.
